Why are you a Nomad?

I was recruited by a former Southeast nomad last year spring and i came into link knowing nothing and I am here now with so much experience and knowledge. I call it the “the beginning of my end”. and I LOOOOVVE IT!

If you were a crayon color, what color would you be?

IF I WAS A CRAYON COLOR I WOULD BE EVERY COLOR! MIXED UP IN LAYERS IN ONE CRAYON! WHY BECAUSE NOT JUST ONE COLOR DECRIBES WHO KAYLA IS. SHE IS MANY THINGS, MANY COLORS.

If you could eat yourself out of one food, what would it be?

I would eat up some CHOCOLATE!!

What place/thing are you most excited to see on tour?

I’M MOST EXCITED TO SEE EVERYWHERE. NOWHERE SPECIFIC. I HAVEN’T BEEN MANY PLACES SO IT’S GREAT TO SEE SO MANY PLACES.

What is your favorite snack or candy?

MY FAVORITE SNACK IS EVERYTHING SWEET!!! I AM A “SUGAR BABY”

Why are you a LiNK Nomad?

When I heard about LiNK nearly two years ago, I was shocked not only by the extent of the crisis, but that I hadn’t heard of it even though I was studying International Relations and kept up with current events. I, like many people, thought of North Korea and simply thought of a crazy dictator and nuclear weapons. I couldn’t believe that there was such a complete lack of freedom and that so many North Koreans were living (and dying) in political prison camps run by their own government. I have been involved with LiNK for a while and there are so many things that make it an awesome organization, but I have realized that my reasons for committing myself to this issue have changed over time and even as I think about my motivation, it is somewhat difficult for me to describe. I feel compelled to be a Nomad because there are people suffering whom I believe I have the responsibility to fight for. The NK crisis is incredibly complicated and it needs all the attention it can get. I can do something and I think it would be wrong of me to ignore what is going on now that I have learned about how urgent the crisis is and how much hope there is.

QUESO or FRO-YO!

What place/thing are you most excited to see on tour?

Since this is my second time being a Northeast Nomad, I am pumped to see a lot of the awesome people that I met last fall. I think that I am most excited to go to Syracuse, NY again!

With the recent death of Kim Jong-il, the world’s attention has been turned to North Korea. But the sad truth is that nearly all the news coverage remains focused on the mystery of its reclusive leaders and the threat of nuclear weapons, while the North Korean people continue to suffer. Life in North Korea is a continuous struggle – people are starving, suffering from extreme poverty, and being forced into political prison camps.

This spring we are launch The People’s Tour, in which we are bringing the attention back to the North Korean people. We believe by using storytelling through the use of film, we can community members to dialogue about current major world issues. We will be screening our very own LiNK documentary, “The People’s Crisis,” formerly known as “Hiding.” This film not only delves into the refugee crisis in China, it explains some crucial NK history — explaining how the government has attained this sort of control. It also shares interviews with North Korean refugees LiNK has helped to rescue and resettle, as well as interviews with members of our staff and experts on the issue.

This spring we invite you to bring us out to your high school, university, or place of worship and help bring change to the people of North Korea.
