When I heard about LiNK nearly two years ago, I was shocked not only by the extent of the crisis, but that I hadn’t heard of it even though I was studying International Relations and kept up with current events. I, like many people, thought of North Korea and simply thought of a crazy dictator and nuclear weapons. I couldn’t believe that there was such a complete lack of freedom and that so many North Koreans were living (and dying) in political prison camps run by their own government. I have been involved with LiNK for a while and there are so many things that make it an awesome organization, but I have realized that my reasons for committing myself to this issue have changed over time and even as I think about my motivation, it is somewhat difficult for me to describe. I feel compelled to be a Nomad because there are people suffering whom I believe I have the responsibility to fight for. The NK crisis is incredibly complicated and it needs all the attention it can get. I can do something and I think it would be wrong of me to ignore what is going on now that I have learned about how urgent the crisis is and how much hope there is.

Why are you a LiNK Nomad?

When I heard about LiNK nearly two years ago, I was shocked not only by the extent of the crisis, but that I hadn’t heard of it even though I was studying International Relations and kept up with current events. I, like many people, thought of North Korea and simply thought of a crazy dictator and nuclear weapons.
